Club philosophy

The club is a very progressive, professionally administered organisation with high quality coaches and a commitment to continued development.

The senior and junior clubs successfully merged during the summer of 2005 and published a 'Vision' document (entitled "In The Village - For The Village") which was designed to provide clear direction and meaningful objectives for the new club to pursue.

These objectives are embodied in the club's Philosophy:-

A Club that provides an opportunity for boys, girls, men and women from the village and surrounding area to participate in soccer matches, soccer coaching and social activities.

A Club that is renowned for:-

•  The development of individual and team skill through high quality and qualified coaching

•  The promotion of high standards of behaviour through the promotion of Codes of Conduct that would befit a club committed to the principles of FA Charter Standard

•  A style of play that promotes a high level of technical skill

•  A competitive spirit and the will to win as a team

•  The cooperation, support and encouragement that exists within all individuals and all teams for each other throughout the Club

•  Welcoming all players irrespective of their ability, gender, race, nationality, ethnicity, colour, religion or sexual orientation

•  Fun and enjoyment; a hub of the community for the community and a Club that contributes positively to village life.

Ultimately, the Club wishes to become a significant contributor to the quality of community life and additionally play a role in the social and physical development of young people through sport.

The club consists of competitive teams from Under 7 to Under 18 level, Senior 1 st team and Reserves, Sunday team and Veterans team. It provides coaching and friendly games for children aged 5, 6 and 7 and there is a commitment to the development of Girls and Women's football.

The Club exists to provide opportunity for all players to progress through its age groups to play senior football.

Its junior teams up to Under 16 level exist principally for the promotion of participation. Its older age group teams and its senior teams play at the highest competitive level possible which will only be restrained by their commitment to the 'Philosophy' of the Club.

Players who show particular ability are encouraged to play above their age group providing that their physical capability will not disadvantage them. The Club has excellent links with the Worcestershire FA and provides the opportunity for its players to attend the newly created Worcestershire FA Player Development Centre

All teams play in the same colours to strengthen the sense of club spirit and common purpose.

The Club plays its home matches in the village and ultimately are aiming to provide additional training facilities in the village.

Consistent with the philosophy of the club, equipment for coaching purposes will be a priority and there will be a principle of 'one ball per player' within the club.

It is believed that this is particularly important for young players and consistent with our objectives of participation our selection policy for our junior teams ensures that any player who is selected to play in a team is guaranteed at least one quarter of the game.

All teams will have a minimum of one FA Level 1 coach assigned to them. Additionally, there will be a minimum of one Level 2 coach for the following age groups; Under 6 - 9, Under 10 - 13, Under 14 - 18, Senior teams.

All teams are coached at least once per week.

There is a Club Coach who is responsible for coach development.

Young players are largely coached within their age group but where their ability is more consistent with the age group below or above, then opportunities are taken to coach players of a similar ability level.

Senior Players are encouraged to support the youth coaching structure.

Where the club benefits from a member obtaining a coaching qualification then the Club provides 100% funding.

These principles are firmly established and the club has an unequivocal commitment to them.
